Desert

The desert is both a teacher and a healer. The stone formations are an education in themselves. Of Genesis importance is the fact that the desert demands honesty of a man. There are no distractions. One must see oneself face to face, clearly. The total lack of anything save the essential, creates a situation in which the essential reveals itself to you. Your own truth becomes apparent, painfully so at times, at times the process is gentle.

Contrary to common belief, the desert is not a void. The only void is the soul of a man who cannot accept. The desert is truly a place to heal,  sometimes, you must accept a difficult treatment.

One must not go to the desert unprepared, physically and mentally, one and the same.   The desert can be quite a harsh teacher to those who think they can approach such a task in jest. The jesting comes of growth and of that, the desert gives most freely.

Ah, the freedom that comes to a growing man.
